              PHONE / VOICEMAIL INSTRUCTIONS

Welcome to Lambuth University.  Following are instructions on the use of our phone system.  Each residence hall room can be called from off-campus by dialing the seven-digit telephone number.  They can also be called on-campus by dialing the internal extension #.  All phones in the University are a part of the phone system (except the sorority houses), so you may call anyone on campus by dialing the internal extension #.  Please plug your phone into SLOT 1 of jack A or B as assigned to you in your residence hall room. The correct jack must be used for you to have the phone number assigned to you.  Slot 2 of the jack is a data line for a computer.  You can receive your phone # and your internal extension # from your resident director by providing your room and jack number.  You may purchase prepaid calling cards in the University bookstore.  We now have campus wide caller ID.  If you have a phone with caller ID capability you will have this service.

 

To dial local numbers, Dial 9, then the phone number.

To dial 911, Dial 9, then 911.  PLEASE give them your residence hall name & room #.

To dial 1-800, Dial 9, then 1-800- plus the phone number.

To dial collect, or to use a credit card, Dial 9, then  (EXAMPLE:) 1-800-225-5288 (1-800-CALL-ATT).

 

VOICEMAIL INSTRUCTIONS:  Your phone will automatically be answered by voicemail if your line is busy or you are unable to answer your phone within 5 rings.  To get into your voicemail dial 5049 on campus and enter the password.  THE GENERIC PASSWORD IS 0000.   To check voicemail from off campus dial 425-8900, press # followed by your internal extension # and your password. You should change your password the first time you enter your voicemail!!  Your private password can be 1-8 digits in length.  Please remember your password.  The technology staff cannot see your password and will have to reset to the generic.

Listening to messages:

 

  Lift handset and dial 5049 (or from off campus 425-8900)

  Enter password  (REMEMBER generic password is 0000)

  Listen to messages.  Follow menu instructions.

 

 

Changing password:

  Lift handset and dial 5049  & enter your password  (Generic password is 0000)

  Press   #     7     1      2     

  Enter new password  (1-8 digits)  FOLLOWED BY THE #  KEY

  Press 1  to accept

 

 

 

Recording personal greeting:

 Lift handset and dial 5049 & enter your password 

 Press 5 (personal greeting)

 Press 1 (primary greeting)

Follow instructions.  

 

 

Entering recorded name:

 Lift handset and dial 5049 & enter your password

 Press   #       7         2

Follow instructions.

 

 

 

Before reporting a problem with your phone please check the following items.

 

1.  Your phone must be plugged into slot 1 of the appropriate jack.

2.  The phone must be set to Tone, not pulse.

 

After checking the above items, please report problems with your phone or voicemail to the Phone Office at Extension 1016.  You must give us your extension #, residence hall and room # when reporting a problem. Phone Office hours are:
