General Objectives:
Wie geht’s
focuses on the essential elements of effective communication. By the end of the course, the students should
have acquired a degree of competence in the four language skills (listening,
speaking, reading and writing) and gained insights into life the
German-speaking countries. The students
should be able to understand German that is spoken at moderate conversational
speed and that deals with everyday topics.
Wie geht’s
presents numerous opportunities for enhancing the students’ listening
skills. Students should be able to
engage in simple conversations with speakers of German in everyday situations. They are encouraged to express themselves in
German. Students should be able to read
non-technical German of moderate difficulty on various aspects of German
culture. Students should be able to write simple sentences correctly on topics
presented in the text. Students should
also acquire basic knowledge about the countries where German is spoken and
become aware of essential differences and similarities between these countries
