Re: Early Alert
I NEED YOUR HELP EARLY RESPONSE IS ESSENTIAL
The purpose of developing a campus wide "early alert system" is to identify and effectively intervene with students that are exhibiting "at risk" behaviors. The goal of this intervention is to improve student persistence and academic success at Lambuth. THE FIRST FEW WEEKS are very important. I am asking all of you to help identify "at risk" students AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Description of At Risk Behaviors:
Excessive absences
Lack of participation in classroom activities
Low scores on daily work or tests
Rapid decline in the quality of work
Failure to complete assignments
Overt statements regarding difficulties
Change in demeanor
Comments from other students
Knowledge of personal or family difficulties
If one or more of the previously listed signs of at risk behavior is identified, please attempt to communicate
directly with the student. If this is not successful, then e-mail your concerns to me or return the attached form.
If the student does not respond in a timely manner, then I will be contacting others for additional information.
Thank you for your assistance in helping to better retain and address the needs of our students.
I have enclosed a form for your use. Please e-mail me at mccoy@lambuth.edu or phone me at 425-3228 if you have any questions.
